Horizon Milling Canada
New Venture. Big Opportunities
Cargill, Incorporated and CHS Inc. have partnered together to launch Horizon Milling G.P., a company formed to purchase the Canadian grain-based Foodservice and Industrial businesses owned by Smucker Foods of Canada Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of The J.M. Smucker Company.
Building on the significant contributions of Smucker Foods, Horizon Milling G.P. continues to deliver a reliable, cost-effective and high-quality supply of flour, oats and bakery products to customers in Canada. Horizon Milling has a long history as a flour-milling leader, and its expertise will be provided to Canada as it leverages the global resources of its parent companies to bring customers innovative products and services.
Bringing Customers the Trusted Robin HoodŽ Brand
In addition, Horizon Milling G.P. has licensed the rights to Smucker’s Robin Hood® brand for use in Canadian foodservice and industrial channels. The heritage and reputation of the Robin Hood® brand goes back to 1909 when their first flour mill began operating in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Since then, consumers and commercial customers in Canada and around the world have made the Robin Hood brand a household name — a name they trust to deliver great taste, superior performance and excellent value in flour, hot cereals and bakery mixes. Horizon Milling G.P. is proud to continue the tradition of bringing customers the premium quality they’ve come to expect.
Locations
As part of the purchase, Horizon Milling G.P. acquires three flour milling facilities, three dry baking mix facilities, and a product research and development facility. The flour milling facilities are located in Montreal, Quebec; Port Colborne, Ontario; and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The dry baking mixing facilities are located in Montreal and Saskatoon, and in Burlington, Ontario. The product development facility is in Etobicoke, Ontario.
