Falcon Cam 2003
Spring - 2003
This spring two Peregrine Falcons successfully raised three eyasses at
the Horizon Milling facility in Lake City MN. The Mother, Lolo, was
born at the Excel Energy High Bridge plant in St. Paul, MN in 2001.
Earlier this year, she was spotted at the Dairyland Power Plant in Alma
WI, but was displaced by another bird before coming to Lake City. The
Father, Gretch, was born at the Dairyland Power Plant in Genoa WI in
2000. The eggs you see below were laid in early April, and hatched mid
May.
On June 2, 2003, Bob Anderson, from the Raptor Resource Project, along with
the assistance of some Horizon Milling and community people banded the young
with identification tags. Blood samples were also taken to check the health.
A Bluffview Elementary 3rd grade class, in Lake City, named the young birds.

The eyasses grew their adult feathers and began flying in late June. Occasionally,
they still visit the nest box atop the elevator in Lake City. We look forward
to seeing Falcons again next Feb/March.
